Mountain Terrace Website Photos

Mountain Terrace Website Photos

From time to time we are contacted by other professionals we work with to photograph an event. This was the case with the Mountain Terrace. They had an event that was a new set up for them and they wanted to have quality photos to post on the social media and website.

The set up was the most important aspect for them. The event was a dinner for a tour group from Europe. The Mountain Terrace is beautifully situated at the top of Woodside on Skyline. It has a beautiful big lawn that is perfect for private parties.

We photographed the tables, some of the food presentation, the barbeque that was set up on the lawn, and some wide-angle shots of the event. The group asked that I take a shot of them while I was there, so I included that as well!

Good quality website photos are essential for businesses of all sizes. The quality of the image you post could be the difference that makes a client choose you instead of your competitor. Fill out the form on this page to receive a quote for your website photography needs.

Corporate Event Photography at Parc 55 Hotel in San Francisco

We recently photographed an event for Sandals/Beaches resorts at the Parc 55 in downtown San Francisco. The event was for travel agents from all over Northern California. The resort was introducing the new CEO and new products like the Destination Wedding Program and new properties. We were there to capture the buzz. It was an amazing event.

Photographing the Set Up

We arrived before the travel agents to document the set up. The Cyril Magnin Foyer on the 4th level of the hotel was full of product information (brochure etc.) beautifully arranged for the travel agents to take and use. We photographed the set up before anyone arrived. Later we photographed the foyer full of people, while everyone was collecting information and talking to the Sandal’s representatives. We then moved to the Cyril Magnin Ballroom to photograph the room, set up for dinner before the guests entered.  The staff at the Parc 55 had prepared the room per the request of the Sandal’s staff.

Speakers and Presentations

After dinner started the presentation. Wow! What a presentation. All of speakers were so inspiring. They were all about support for the travel agents, whatever they can do to help them book vacations. By the end of the event I wanted not only to go to one of the resorts, but also become a travel agent. This is what is written on their website above their awards. To be the very best requires creativity, commitment, and constant innovation – all things we do very well at Sandals Resorts. And that’s why, year after year, we’re proud to have been showered with some of the most prestigious awards and accolades from renowned consumer and travel publications.

Conference Photography For Adaptive Planning in Las Vegas

Conference Photography

In January we photographed the Worldwide Partner Summit for Adaptive Planning at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, NV. Adaptive Planning provides cloud based Corporate Performance Management (CPM) software. We have photographed a number of events for this company they have great energy!

We were at the conference for 2 reasons, the first to document the conference and the second to photograph some headshots. The headshots were of their employees for internal use and for their Linkedin profile.

Documentary Style Conference Photography

As for the conference, Hagop covered it in a documentary style. Going from room to room, session to session in between the planned headshots sessions. We had a great schedule provided to us by Adaptive that made sure we covered all the important sessions and other speakers, we also had time allotted for the break-out sessions, candid and group shots of the attendees.

The Party

Part of documenting the conference was capturing the party! It was held at Cherry’s at Red Rock Resort. They called the event “The Great Adaptive” themed after The Great Gatsby. It was a lot of fun. Many people arrived dressed for the era, they had hired models dress as flappers (a certain type of woman in the United States in the 1920’s, they were known for their unconventional style and behavior) to greet and take photos with the guests. It was a lot of fun and we got some great shots. There was great food, a photo booth for some crazy photos and great ambiance both in the club and outside by the pool.

Adaptive Insights

One other important event took place at this conference and that was the internal announcement of their new branding Adaptive Insights. The press release was on February 4, 2014. Click to read the Press Release.

Company Retreat for US Foods

Company Retreat Photography

We just recently photographed a fun event for US Foods, you might call it a company retreat. They brought the top producers and executives from the Southern California region up to The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay for a weekend to relax and celebrate their hard work.

If you have never been to The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, you should plan to visit. It is one of the most beautiful properties we have the pleasure of working on. There are so many amazing views to take in. We were asked to come and take some group shots during the activities and the evening party on their last night.

They had three planned activities on their first day that they could participate in Golf, a hike or a visit to a couple local wineries. We photographed a few group shots and candid photos of the different groups as they went off for their activities. They all seemed to be looking forward to having a wonderful time.

We took this photo before we left the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Half Moon Bay

The second day’s event was a causal dinner reception with food stations. We covered the event in a documentary style with mainly causal candid and photojournalistic shots. The event was in the Miramonte room and the adjacent patio with a fire pit. They used the fire pit to makes S’mores at the end of the evening. They also had brought one of their chefs to give a cooking demonstration. It was fun and interesting to watch. He made a risotto that was wonderful!

During the evening event they had some awards and wanted a few posed photographs. We used the beautiful grounds and the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop for some photos of couples and a group shot of all attendees and their significant others and one of just the attendees.

Why go to a professional photographer for your corporate headshot?

We have noticed an increased interest in people calling to get an executive portrait or corporate headshot taken for their social media profile page like LinkedIn, Facebook and Google Plus. Also many companies ask for a photo when you apply for a job. We recently had a young lady who came in for just that, a photo to accompany her resume. She had been through the first round of the interview process. The interviewer was impressed with her and her qualifications but the photos she submitted were completely unprofessional. (She showed them to us, he was right.) The interviewer suggested she go to a professional photographer for a headshot.

Your Corporate Headshot

The approach to photographing a profession headshot is different from a modeling photo or even family portrait. Though any portrait should show your personality a business headshot should also portray you as confident and approachable. When someone sees your photo on your website, Linkedin, Twitter, Google+, or any other site they should be able to say, “I want to do business with this person.” Your photo should show confidence and likability. How do I accomplish this? I help you through it. When you come in before we shoot, we talk. We discuss the purpose of the headshot. How many looks you want. If you bring in different looks I give you my opinion of what I think would be best and why. The ultimate decision of course is your. By the end of our short consultation, I have a better idea of who you are and you of who I am.

Bottom line is that this is the photo that people will judge you by. They will determine if the want to do business with you or even maybe your company. Your profile picture needs to show you are professional, approachable, and ready for business. It is our job to bring this out in you.

Stanford Real Estate Hall of Fame Banquet Photography

This week we photographed an event for SPIRE (Stanford Professionals in Real Estate) at Arrillaga Alumni Center on the Stanford Campus. The event was Stanford Real Estate Hall of Fame Honors Banquet where two of their members Bill Tooley and Bowen “Buzz” McCoy were honored for their achievements. During the banquet Stanford faculty and student achievements in real estate were also recognized. We were asked to documents the events of the evening.

The evening started with a cocktail reception in the Ford Garden of the Alumni Center. A student jazz combo played during the cocktail hour while the staff of Perfect Taste Catering passed appetizers and beverages and guests mingled.

During dinner there were many presentations. Phd candidates Roshan Mehdizradeh and Afroz Algiers were each recognized and gave a presentation of their work. Also Prof. Ray Levitt and Prof. Martin Fischer spoke about The Sustainable Urban Systems Initiative. Whenever we photograph events like these we walk away having learned something new. It is amazing the new innovations that are being discovered!

Both Bowen “Buzz” McCoy and Bill Tooley were introduced and a video tribute was paly for both. They each the gave brief remarks about there lives and were presented with a plaque.

We hope you enjoy the slide show. We chose the jazz music as a background because of Bill Tooley’s love of jazz.

Corporate Event at Menlo Grill Restaurant at Stanford Park Hotel in Menlo Park

Corporate events can be any event that a business thinks is important enough to have documented. We have photographed groundbreaking ceremonies, a ribbon cutting ceremonies, presenting of the key of the city, retirement parties, partner announcement, corporate training sessions and many other events. Recently, The Stanford Park Hotel in Menlo Park, CA invited some loyal patrons and others to their announcement for the renovation of the bar area for the Menlo Grill and hotel rooms that will start in the near future. This announcement was big enough that they wanted the event to be covered by a photographer.

The coverage was basically candid documentation and some photojournalism. We took photos of the food being served. They had passed hors d’œuvres and buffet style all tastefully presented. The plans for the new bar i.e. chairs, fabrics etc. were on display for the attendees to view. Besides the beverages and food, there was a steel drum duo that entertained the guests until the formal announcement of the renovations that were going to happen.

Companies can use these professional taken photos for their publicity or even for historical records. These days most companies have a blog or newsletter that informs their clients of important events, new products, etc., having professional photographs for these publications makes a difference in the impression they leave with their clients (present and future).

Retirement Party For Valentina & Rafail

Retirement Party

We just photographed the most amazing retirement party!  The party was at Fandorin Restaurant in Burlingame, CA. Nice facility, beautiful view, and great food! The party was for Valentina and Rafail who were both retiring from Kiewit Corporation a construction company that dates back to 1884. They had been with the company for over thirty years and had been very influential not only in the company but also as people to their fellow employees. Valentina and Rafail are married, worked together and retired together. We met them when they arrived at Fandorin Restaurant as the party was arranged by the company. They were gracious, kind, and introduced us to their beautiful family.

On display at the restaurant were various shirts, jackets, hats, mugs… from different projects that the company had worked on. Apparently Rafail loves the logo paraphernalia. They also had different picture boards with photos of Valentina and Rafail through the years. They and the family enjoyed going through the various items while they waited for guest to arrive.

We covered the event mainly in a documentary style. They had one request that we try to get a shot of each couple as they arrived at the party. Valentina and Rafail greeted each guest, which made it a lot easier for us to have time to photograph everyone.

The evening started off with a cocktail hour while guest arrived and mingled. They were then asked to be seated where the feast and short toasts began. On the tables was a cornucopia of cold appetizers, one tastier that the next. It was followed by warm appetizers equally delicious. During this time guests toasted Valentina and Rafail with wonderful stories that recalled the couple’s influence in their lives.

The guests were then asked to go upstairs where they viewed a short video prepared by John Watson (Video Production and Multimedia Specialist at Kiewit). He had taken the time to interview various employees and put together a wonderful and very entertaining tribute to Valentina and Rafail.

I hope you enjoy the slideshow and photos from this event. Let us know what you think.

Conference Photography in San Francisco.

We just finished photography for Adaptive Planning’s Annual User Conference at the Nikko Hotel in San Francisco. This is our 3rd event with Adaptive and each time we walk away with the same feeling that there is such energy in this growing company. it’s amazing and so motivating!

We were at the conference for 2 reasons, the first to photograph some headshots and the second to document the conference.

The headshot photos were a part of a team of photography, hair/make up, coordination, and video for Adaptive’s promotional use. This is how it worked: an interviewee comes in, Marla Vigil from Hair and Make-Up Studio did some light make-up and hair touch-ups, we would take a few headshots then the person would go in the video room where we took a few more “behind-the-scenes” shots. At that point they would go into a closed video interview session filmed by Urban Reel. In order to make sure that it all went smoothly, Gaelen O’Connell and Melinda Venable of Social Scouters handled the project management end of it all. The whole team was great to work with.

As for the conference, Hagop covered it in a documentary style. Going from room to room, session to session in between headshots. We had a great schedule provided to us by Adaptive that made sure we covered all the important keynote and other speakers, we also had time allotted for the break-out sessions, candid and group shots of the attendees.

Even though the conference was important for Adaptive, they also wanted to be sure to capture the party they had planned. It was their 10th Anniversary! They had some special moments that needed to be photographed. There were speeches, a birthday cake, caricature artist, Dueling Piano musicians, great food provided by the Nikko Hotel and of course a DJ.
